Beverley Soble was involved in long term care for more than 25 years as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at the Virginia Health Care Association. She was responsible for monitoring both state and federal regulations affecting nursing and assisted living facilities, as well as interpreting and assisting long term care providers in implementing requirements on the state and federal levels.
As one of the leaders in facilitating the direction and activities of Virginia’s Geriatric Mental Health Partnership since its inception, she helped this group in its innovative and cross-disciplinary efforts to improve behavioral health care for older Virginians. She also contributed to the development of Virginia’s Advanced Nurse Aide Education program; Virginia’s Pressure Ulcer Resource Team, a public-private partnership which worked diligently to prevent and treat pressure ulcers in long term care; and the Virginia Restraint Reduction Initiative, which saw the Commonwealth improve dramatically from the highest ranked state for restraint use in nursing facilities to one of the lowest in the country.
Since her professional retirement, she has continued her involvement as a volunteer in a number of community activities and currently serves as a Legislative appointee to and Chair of the Commonwealth Council on Aging. Beverley has served on the Virginia Center on Aging Advisory Committee for over 15 years, including terms as past chair.
