Age in Action Winter 2021 Issue
January 21, 2021
The Winter 2021 issue of our quarterly, Age in Action, features a case study that focuses on oral health and the powerful but too often overlooked oral-systemic connection. Simply put, our oral health can greatly affect our physical and cognitive functioning. This case study highlights an innovative program to improve the oral health of disadvantaged, at-risk older adults.
There are also two editorials: one on wisdom in later life and how our gerontological curricula recognize and nurture self-discovery, and another recognizing the central role of family caregivers in the lives of older adults and celebrating the Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program. This issue includes articles on the latest resource on treating substance misuse among older adults; a student-led program to connect with isolated elders; a call for proposals for dementia research; the responsibilities of representative payees; and much more, including a fond remembrance of two departed colleagues.
We hope that you remain well and that you find this issue helpful and interesting. As always, please share this issue and invite friends and colleagues to join our mailing list by signing up here.
