Dr. Marrs is a Research & Evaluation Specialist with the Virginia Center on Aging's (VCoA) Virginia Geriatric Education Center (VGEC). She assists with program evaluation for the VGEC's five-year Cooperative Agreement with the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The Cooperative Agreement provides Geriatrics/Gerontology interprofessional faculty development, curriculum development, and continuing professional education. Along with the evaluation team, she seeks to measure and assess program outcomes and their impacts on clinicians' interprofessional and evidence-based practices in clinical and classroom settings.
Dr. Marrs obtained a doctorate in Research & Evaluation in the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has spent the last several years evaluating educational and professional development programs and teaching Research Methodology and Statistics courses. Dr. Marrs also has a background in Developmental Psychology and holds a Master of Arts in Psychological Sciences from James Madison University and a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech. Her scholarly activity includes peer-reviewed publications and presentations utilizing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies.
